SEIU California Backs Pete Aguilar For Congress

(San Bernardino, CA) – The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) of California has endorsed Pete Aguilar for Congress in California’s 31st District, the Aguilar campaign announced today. The endorsement follows Aguilar’s backing by the California Democratic Party earlier this week.

Commenting on today’s endorsement, Pete Aguilar said, “I’m very pleased to have the support of an organization that continues to fight long and hard for workers’ fundamental rights. Congressman Miller’s retirement gives us an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of hard-working families throughout the Inland Empire, and I will fight every day to create good-paying jobs and bring common sense to our immigration system.”

SEIU California represents more than 700,000 workers, including social workers, classroom aides, state workers, security officers, college professors, in-home care providers and janitors. The Service Employees International Union is the fastest growing union in North America.

Pete Aguilar is a small business owner and Mayor of Redlands. He is a strong advocate for economic growth and fairness in the Inland Empire, a leader who has reached across party lines to serve the best interests of middle-class families.

As Mayor, Aguilar helped balance the last four city budgets, turning its multi-million dollar deficit into a surplus and improving the city’s credit rating. Aguilar also led efforts to make Redlands more attractive to businesses and improve San Bernardino County’s infrastructure.

SEIU California made a dual endorsement for the CA-31 seat.
