Pete Aguilar Statement on Republican Budget
Says Republican budget plan has wrong priorities and will hurt middle-class families
(San Bernardino, Calif.) – Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar, a candidate for Congress in California’s 31st district, released the following statement in response to the budget proposal introduced by Congressman Paul Ryan to the U.S. House of Representatives today:
“Once again, the Republican budget gives a pat on the back to millionaires and a poke in the eye to the middle class. It is a fiscally irresponsible plan that gives tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans, while cutting hundreds of billions in health care services to our seniors. It starts us down the dangerous road to Medicare privatization, which would force seniors into the private insurance market.
“Instead, we need a balanced approach that will create jobs and build a solid foundation for economic growth, including investments in infrastructure, education and clean energy. It’s about time that Congressional Republicans put the needs of middle-class families first.”
