PETE AGUILAR CALLS CONGRESSMAN MILLERâS VOTE TO DEPORT DREAMERS âCALLOUS AND WRONGHEADEDâ
Miller supports extreme right wing plan to restart DREAM Act deportations
(San Bernardino, CA) â Congressman Gary Miller today let his true right wing colors show by voting to restart deportations of an estimated 800,000 DREAM Act-eligible young people, including many Inland Empire residents.
Joining the extreme, anti-immigration leaders of his party, Congressman Miller today voted for an amendment that would prohibit Immigration and Customs Enforcement from implementing President Obamaâs executive order protecting so-called DREAMers from deportation.
âCongressman Millerâs vote to deport 800,000 DREAMers is both callous and wrongheaded,â said Pete Aguilar, Mayor of Redlands and Democratic candidate for Congress challenging Miller. âEven though Miller has consistently opposed immigration reform, it’s still shocking that he would separate people from their families and communities, including those who’ve served in our military.”
âPete Aguilar knows that we need to protect the DREAM Act â not go back to the days of deporting law abiding children,â said immigration reform advocate and Aguilar supporter San Juana Laurel. âCongressman Miller doesnât have our interests at heart when he votes to deport young people across the Inland Empire. We need a leader like Pete Aguilar who has both the right priorities and the courage to stand up to extreme members of Congress.â
Pete Aguilar is the Mayor of Redlands and a fourth generation resident of the Inland Empire. He strongly supports the DREAM Act and comprehensive reform to fix our nationâs broken immigration system.
