GOP Candidate Attempts to Deceive Inland Empire Residents on Health Care Stance
Despite making Affordable Care Act repeal a central campaign promise, Flynn denies attacking Obamacare
(San Bernardino, CA) – During a September 20, 2018 candidate debate, Republican candidate and Trump ally Sean Flynn made a startling claim when he falsely declared, “I have never attacked Obamacare.”
Flynn has made repealing the Affordable Care Act a central theme of his campaign and proposed legislative agenda, making the deceptive claim particularly brazen.
In a Flynn campaign video, which has since been deleted, a narrator touts Flynn’s plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act: “The Flynn plan? Streamline and balance the budget, replace Obamacare, cut regulations to create more high paying jobs … now that’s smart. Republican Sean Flynn — because we can’t afford more dummies in D.C.”
Flynn has also taken to social media advocating for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, writing “Kudos to House Republicans for once again moving to repeal Obama’s unaffordable and unfair healthcare law.”
“It’s not surprising that Sean Flynn supports the Republican health care plan that would leave many Inland Empire families without health care coverage, raise premiums for people aged 50-64, and strip protections for people with pre-existing conditions. But what is surprising is his brazenly false claim about his record in an effort to deceive voters,” said Matt Liebman, Campaign Manager for Aguilar’s re-election campaign.
Congressman Pete Aguilar has consistently stood up to Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans’ attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and take away health care from millions of families. In Congress, he opposes any effort that would allow insurance companies to deny coverage for preexisting conditions, raise rates, or cut millions off of their healthcare to protect corporate profits.
Last night’s congressional candidate debate took place at San Bernardino Valley College and was hosted by the League of Women Voters of the San Bernardino Area and Empire PBS/KVCR.
