California Teachers Association Backs Pete Aguilar for Congress

(San Bernardino, CA) – Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar, a Democratic candidate for Congress in California’s 31st Congressional district, received the support of the California Teachers Association (CTA), his campaign announced today.

“Pete Aguilar understands the struggles our students and teachers face and he is exactly the type of leader we need in Congress to strengthen our schools in California and across the country,” said San Bernardino elementary school teacher Christina Marquez.

Commenting on today’s endorsement, Pete Aguilar said, “As a product of public schools and the father of two young kids, I know that the most important investment we can make is in a solid education system. In Congress, I will make education a priority again so that all children have an opportunity to succeed.”

Founded in 1863, the California Teachers Association has become one of the strongest advocates for educators in the country. CTA represents teachers, counselors, school librarians, social workers, psychologists, nurses, community college faculty, California State University faculty, and education support professionals.

Aguilar also has the support of the California School Employees Association, the California Democratic Party, Senator Dianne Feinstein, and leading labor, public safety and environmental organizations.

Pete Aguilar is a small business owner and Mayor of Redlands. He is a strong advocate for economic growth and fairness in the Inland Empire, a leader who has reached across party lines to serve the best interests of the middle-class in San Bernardino County.
